Adelaide Visitor Guide : 2016 Adelaide Visitor Guide
Contents
Wander over to the new small bar hub around Peel, Waymouth and Leigh streets and you’ll find some of Adelaide’s most dependable (and much- loved) eateries including Bistro Dom, Rigoni’s Bistro, Georges on Waymouth, Melt Pizzeria, Press* Food + Wine and the multi award- winning Peel Street restaurant. Fancy something a little more informal? Then head over to Gouger Street, Adelaide's long established 'eat street' right next to the Central Market. Some of the more popular eateries are Gaucho’s Argentinian Restaurant, Star of Siam (authentic Thai), Mapo (contemporary Korean) and Little NNQ (modern Vietnamese street food). Alternatively, check out one of the city’s pubs, such as the Hotel Wright Street, the Gilbert Street Hotel or The Lion in North Adelaide. Pirie Street is another of Adelaide's newer foodie meccas offering an amazing range of culinary experiences – from the newly opened Osteria Oggi to the saucy take away joint Chicken & Pig and up-market bakery Abbots & Kinney. They join established favourites Pizza e Mozzarella Bar, Pirie & Co and From Orient. The culinary revolution is stretching its tentacles far and wide. Two-Bit Villains is a vintage-inspired soda bar newly opened on the top floor of Adelaide Arcade (just off Rundle Mall), while Andre’s Cucina & Polenta Bar is a chic little Italian diner on Frome Street. Another new arrival is Red House Shop & Café, a retro coffee and snack joint located at the North Adelaide Railway Station. Hutt Street, on the city’s northern fringe, will also satisfy food-lovers with the elegant award-winning Chianti, an authentic Italian dining experience and adjacent Bar Torino, plus other local favourites Goodlife Organic Pizza, A Hereford Beefstouw and Kenji. There are also plenty of ‘eat streets’ once you venture outside of the city. Try North Adelaide’s Melbourne and O’Connell streets for a mix of fine dining, good pub grub and funky street cafés. Both The Parade in Norwood and King William Road in Hyde Park have a good mix of relaxed eateries and fine diners too. Mobile food trucks are the latest addition and they can be found around the city on weekdays and at markets and festivals on weekends.
